A lifetime resident of Niagara Falls, Alan graduated from Stamford High School and Niagara College. He then obtained a Bachelor of Science and Commerce degree from Niagara University.
His career began in the property, casualty and life insurance industry. He then transitioned to the financial planning industry, and is the founder of the Lifetime Financial Planning Group.
Alan achieved his Registered Financial Planning (R.F.P.) designation which requires him to obtain continuing education with courses on such topics as taxation, retirement and estate planning, financial planning and money management strategies.
Alan created “The S.M.A.A.R.T.E.R. Investment Course.™” S.M.A.A.R.T.E.R. is an acronym for: Saving Money * Accumulating Assets * Reducing Taxes * Estate & Retirement. This innovative financial workshop included courses in: Money and Asset accumulation plans; Strategies to reduce taxes; Ways to incorporate an affordable Family and Business Protection Strategy by utilizing life, disability and critical illness insurance. Finally how to create retirement security, protect one’s estate and ultimately enjoy Retirement.
Alan hosted a TV talk show on public TV called “Let’s Talk Money” for over 18 years, and was a guest on radio talk shows, as well as an author of newspaper articles.
Alan enjoys hockey, fishing, water and snow skiing and at one time had obtained his solo pilots license. In keeping with his contributions to the community, he is the founder of the annual “Christmas Toys for Kids” program. For years, his staff has helped organize and has entered a team in the local Man-a-Mile relay from Niagara-On-The-Lake to Niagara Falls.
Alan and his wife Bernadette have raised and educated three children; Jennifer, Aaron and Geoff and are proud grandparents.
